Samsung Launches 5G Integrated Exynos 980 SoC

The Exynos 980 SoC Supports Up To 108-Megapixel Camera Resolution.

Samsung has launched the next-generation mobile processor Exynos 980. The Exynos 980 combines a 5G modem and mobile application processor in a single chip.

The latest 5G-enabled Exynos 980 processor will support 2G to 5G network. As well as, it will provide a fast gigabit downlink speed in 4G LTE and up to 2.55Gbps in 5G connectivity for sub-6GHz spectrum, the company said in a statement.

Moreover, the latest processor supports a new Wi-Fi 6 standard, which aims to provide faster speed and more excellent stability for seamless online gaming and video streaming over Wi-Fi networks.

The chipset also comes equipped with a Mali G76 GPU and features an integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for advanced AI capabilities. The processor packs in two Cortex-A77 CPU cores and four Cortex-A55 core applications that will benefit from NPU enhancements include user authentication, content filtering, and mixed reality, among others.

For photographers, they can support up to 108-Megapixel resolution, with multiformat codec supports encoding and decoding of 4K UHD video at 120 frames per second.

As well as, we would like to inform you, on the previous month, Samsung has introduced another next-gen mobile chip the Exynos 9825 SoC with 7nm EUV Silicon. The company has created this chip with new EUV technology.

As per the report, the Exynos 980 is expected to begin mass production by the end of this year.
