One Bengal returnee tests Covid-19 negative in 2nd test (lead)

Panaji, May 16 (IANS) One of the three returnees from West Bengal, who all had tested coronavirus positive on Friday, on Saturday tested negative in a confirmatory second round of tests.

The third round of tests would be conducted after 72 hours, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, here on Saturday.

Rane said the three persons were part of a group of seven professionals, who had gone to West Bengal last month and had returned by road.

“Seven people had gone from Goa on April 21 to deliver barges in Kolkata. They stayed in Gangasagar, a green zone. On May 3, they were taken to some other place by boat and then they reached Goa in morning,” Rane had said on Friday.

Of them, three tested Covid-19 positive and four negative.

During the day, one active Covid-19 case was reported after a truck cleaner, who had come to Goa along with a pharmaceutical consignment, developed coronavirus like symptoms and landed at the Goa Medical College near Panaji on his own for examination.

He tested Covid-19 positive in the preliminary test, while the accompanying truck driver tested negative, Rane said.

At present, Goa has 11 active Covid-19 cases.
