Instagram starts testing the ‘Take A Break’ feature for its users
Photo and video-sharing social networking platform Instagram has started testing a new feature that will prompt users to take a break from the application.
The company is calling this feature “Take a Break”, in which one can take a brief hiatus after spending a certain amount of time on the app. The feature has been announced by the company’s head Adam Mosseri to prevent Instagram addiction.
According to the company, the ‘Take a Break’ feature will be available as a choice or option for users, Those who opt-in for the feature will be able to set reminders in regular intervals of time so that the application reminds them to take some time off after using it for 10, 20 or 30 minutes continuously.
Mosseri has also posted a short video on Twitter, where he explains that the new feature is being developed with a “broader effort to try and give people more control over their experience of Instagram.” He also asserted that Instagram users will see more features like this in the near future.
Testing “Take a Break” 🧑🔬
We started testing a new feature called “Take a Break” this week. This opt-in control enables you to receive break reminders in-app after a duration of your choosing.
I’m excited to dig into the results & hopefully launch this sometime in December. ✌🏼 pic.twitter.com/WdSTjL6ZdH

Instagram has reportedly worked with some third-party experts to test this new “Take a Break” feature, which will be released to a small percentage of users in the coming days. The social media platform could launch this feature for all the users in the coming months if the testing goes smoothly.
