Google To Introduce Strike Based System Against Advertisers Who Violates Google Ads Policies Repeatedly
Google advertisers, who repeatedly violate the Ads policies, are likely to see troubles as a strike-based system implemented by Google in September 2021.
Google said this new enforcement procedure to counter the repeated policy violations is to maintain a sustainable and healthy system for the users.
What is the new strike-based system of Google Ads?
The new strike-based system is basically making the advertisers aware by alerting them with strikes. After implementing the new update, Google will start issuing strikes to the advertisers as they violate Google Ads policies.
The system would be quite similar to the YouTube channel strikes, where if the content creator gets three strikes on the channel, it gets suspended.
Here advertisers are likely to face the same system. For the first policy violation, the advertisers will only get a warning. But the continuous violation the Google Ads will give them their first strike. The advertisers’ accounts will be temporarily held for 3 and 7 days for the first and second strikes, respectively. As the advertiser will receive a maximum of three strikes, and the penalties would increase eventually, the final strike will hit as account suspension.
However, advertisers would still have a chance to appeal in case of account suspension or temporary hold of the account.
The advertiser who would receive the first or second violation will need to submit an acknowledgment form to serve their ads again. After the acknowledgment submission, the account will serve ads after three days or seven days for the first and second strike, respectively, counting from the strike issuing date. If advertiser finds that the strike has been given my error, they can also appeal. The strike will stay active on the accounts for 90 days if the acknowledgment has been submitted.
The policies cover advertisers who show dishonest behaviors, promote guns, gun parts-related products, explosives, unapproved substances, and tobacco. The enlisting of policies would be increased, and Google will notify advertisers from time to time whenever any new addition comes. Google will start implementing the new strike-based system on September 21, 2021. However, the account suspension policies for serious policy violations will remain the same.
