Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra join Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur

Vicky Kaushal welcomed Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh to the cast of Sam Bahadur on director Meghna Gulzar’s birthday today, December 13. Actress Sanya will play the role of Vicky’s wife, Silloo Manekshaw, and Fatima will essay the role of India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.

Welcoming the actresses to Sam Bahadur cast, Vicky wrote, “It’s a very special day for us as we celebrate our director @meghnagulzar’s birthday and welcome the leading ladies @sanyamalhotra_ as Silloo Manekshaw & @fatimasanashaikh as Smt. Indira Gandhi to the #SamBahadur family (sic)!”

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Meghna Gulzar, the biographical drama is based on the life and times of the valiant Sam Manekshaw, one of India’s greatest war heroes. He was the Chief of the Army Staff in 1971 when India fought the Bangladesh Liberation War with Pakistan.

Vicky Kaushal will be playing the tutorial role of Sam Bahadur.

Vicky Kaushal was last seen in the film ‘Sardar Udham’, based on a biopic of freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh. On the other hand, Sanya recently saw the release of her film Meenakshi Sundareshwar on Netflix. Fatima was last seen in Ajeeb Daastaans, also on Netflix.
