Anupam Kher to essay the role of Jayaprakash Narayan in Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, first look out

Veteran actor Anupam Kher will portray the role of Indian independence activist and political leader, Jayaprakash Narayan, in the upcoming film ‘Emergency’. The film also stars Kangana Ranaut in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Anupam took to Twitter on July 22 to share his first look from Emergency.

In the poster, the actor can be seen wearing big glasses, a wig, and prosthetics as he will be seen playing Jayaprakash Narayan. JP is remembered for leading the mid-1970s opposition against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, for whose overthrow, he had called for a total revolution.

Sharing the poster, Anupam penned a note saying, “BIG: Happy and proud to essay the role of the man who questioned fearlessly, a rebel in the truest sense of the word, #JayaPrakashNarayan in #KanganaRanaut starrer and directorial next #Emergency. My 527th! Jai Ho! #JP #Loknayak (sic).”

Kangana Ranaut unveils her first look as Indira Gandhi from Emergency, on July 14. The film is a biopic based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She informed her fans that they have commenced the film’s shoot. In addition to writing, directing, and producing the film, Kangana also stars in it as well, essaying the role of Indira Gandhi. The film is all set to hit the theatres in 2023.
