World Photography Day 2021: Today is ‘World Photography Day’, know the history of the day

Every year on 19th August, World Photography Day is celebrated all over the world. This day is celebrated around the world with the art, craft, science, and history behind the scenes of photography.

Photography is an art. The picture is a very important medium for telling a story. That is to say, it is a medium that can express the mind more quickly and instantly than words. Images of a place, experiences, feelings, almost everything can be captured on camera.

History of World Photography Day:

The history of photography can be traced back to 1837 in France, when two Frenchmen named Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Louis Daguerre discovered the first photographic process, called the ‘daguerreotype’. The French Academy of Sciences announced the process on January 19, 1837. The French government then declared August 19 of that year as World Photography Day. Every year since then, this day has been celebrated as World Photography Day.

Significance of World Photography Day:

A beautiful picture is never tied to time. Just as a picture can be admired on the day it is taken, the same picture can be admired fifty years later. As seen with the naked eye, a picture also tells us about what is happening in the world around us. This day is celebrated with much fervor by wildlife photography enthusiasts, photojournalists, and fashion photographers, and even amateur photographers. They come together to share ideas and spread awareness about this day.
