West Bengal Govt lifts September 12 lockdown in view of NEET exam
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday withdrew the statewide lockdown on September 12 in view of the NEET 2020 examination.
Making the announcement on her official Twitter handle, Banerjee said that the West Bengal government had initially declared a statewide lockdown on Sep 11th and 12th.
But, “Considering the NEET 2020 examination scheduled on September 13, we have received numerous requests from the student community on lifting lockdown norms on 12th, helping ease their travel to examination centers,” Mamata Banerjee wrote on Twitter.
Keeping their interest in mind, while keeping the statewide lockdown as it is on Sep 11th, it has been decided to cancel the lockdown on 12th, so that the students can attend the examination on 13th without any apprehensions or concerns. I wish them all the very best. (2/2)

In the current COVID-19 situation, several states, including West Bengal, have filed a case in the country’s highest court seeking a stay on the net entrance exam. But the Supreme Court dismissed the case and said that the net entrance test will be held across the country as per the schedule. After that, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee withdrew the lockdown on September 12, giving priority to the interests of the students.
