Twitter rolling out new font, color changes, and more

Twitter has now made the biggest changes for improving the Twitter experience in terms of accessibility. The changes include a new font, tweaks to interface colors, high contrast buttons, and more.

The biggest change here is a new font called Chirp, which the company says makes the Twitter experience “more accessible, unique, and focused on you and what you’re talking about.”

“Today, we released a few changes to the way Twitter looks on the web and on your phone. While it might feel weird at first, these updates make us more accessible, unique, and focused on you and what you’re talking about,” said Twitter.

It was in January when Google had revealed its new font called Chirp. If you are wondering what really is the big change then Twitter explains, “All Western-language text now aligns left, making it easier to read as you scroll. Non-Western languages remain unchanged.”

The font isn’t the only visual change introduced on Wednesday. “We’ve updated our colors to be high contrast and a lot less blue – a change made to draw attention to the photos and videos you create and share,” Twitter said in a thread posted by its design account.

According to The Verge, people who subscribe to the paid Twitter Blue subscription service can already tweak the colors of the app and change the color of the app’s icon, though the service is only available for iOS in Canada and Australia right now.
