Thackeray declares joint properties worth Rs 125 cr, has no vehicle

Mumbai, May 11 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday officially declared his assets and properties approximately worth Rs 125 crore (Rs 1.25 billion).

In an election affidavit filed for the Maharashtra Legislative Council biennial elections in which he is the candidate, Thackeray has revealed all his movable and immovable assets including some jointly with his wife Rashmi, but does not include his two sons.

The couple own three bungalows and a farmhouse in Raigad, but surprisingly, no vehicles, according to his 43-page affidavit.

Thackeray, 59, has said that he passed his SSC examinations in 1976 and then completed his Diploma in Applied Arts from Sir J. J. School of Arts in 1982 and is a professional photographer.

Though he has no criminal cases pending against him, he has 23 private complaints and FIRs filed against him, mostly pertaining to editorials in the Saamana newspapers, of which 12 have been closed.

As per the ITR for 2018-2019, Thackeray has filed returns worth Rs 38.28 lakh, while his wife Rashimi has filed returns worth Rs 79.49 lakh.

Thackeray has fixed deposits worth Rs 1.60 crore, Rashmi has FDs worth Rs 34.86 lakhs, besides investments in bonds and shares for him amount to Rs 21.68 crore and Rs 33.79 crore for his wife.

He also has loan liability of Rs.4.06 crore, and his wife has a loan liability of Rs 11.44 crore. The couple together owns jewellery worth Rs.1.58 crore.

They also own two agricultural plots, one non-agricultural land is owned by Thackeray, while Rashmi owns a shop in Thane.

Besides the legendary ‘Matoshree’ bungalow in Bandra East, he owns two other bungalow plots on the opposite side in the same area whose total value is approximately Rs 81 crore.
