Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Shaakuntalam trailer is out, film to release on February 17
On Monday, finally, the makers of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan’s ‘Shaakuntalam’ released the trailer of the film on social media.
The film is based on a popular Indian play titled Shakuntala, written by Kalidasa. While Samantha plays the role of Shakuntala, Dev Mohan will be seen as King Dushyant.
Taking to Twitter Samantha shared the trailer of ‘Shaakuntalam’ and wrote, “#ShaakuntalamTrailer is here! This FEB 17, experience the #EpicLoveStory unfold only in theatres (sic).”

The trailer begins with the majestic, computer-generated world of Shaakuntalam where the titular character of Menaka and sage Vishwamitra. Amid the land of fantastical landscapes, peacocks, and kings, Shakuntala is portrayed to be a woman of beauty and grace, who subsequently falls in love with King Dushyant and gets married. After having their first child, Dushyant leaves the forest with a promise to return to her soon. However, due to a sage’s curse, he forgets about Shakuntala, until they meet again.
The film ‘Shaakuntalam’ has an ensemble star cast including Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhu Bala, Gautami, Jisshu Sengupta, and many other notable actors.
Produced by Neelima Guna, the movie is jointly bankrolled by the banners of Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venkateswara Creations. Music is composed by Mani Sharma. Directed by Gunasekhar, the film is all set to release on February 17, 2023, in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
