Rashmi Rocket trailer: Taapsee Pannu challenges conventional femininity and gender testing in sports

The trailer of Taapsee Pannu starrer Rashmi Rocket has been released on Thursday, September 23. The trailer showcases the story of an athlete named Rashmi, whose life changes drastically after she is asked to undergo a gender test. She files a human rights violation case and with the help of a lawyer, played by Abhishek, and fights for justice.

The trailer tracks Rashmi’s journey from a tiny village to athletic contests, courtrooms, and beyond. The film is “inspired by the struggle of several female athletes.”

The OTT Streaming platform ZEE5 have shared the trailer and wrote, “Rashmi ki ladai khud se nahi, iss system se hai! #RashmiRocket #TrailerOutNow Premieres 15 October Only on #ZEE5 (sic).”

In Rashmi Rocket, Taapsee Pannu plays a fast runner Rashmi. Priyanshu Painyuli will be seen in the role of her husband. Supriya Pathak plays Taapsee’s mother in the film. Rashmi Rocket also stars Abhishek Banerjee, who plays a lawyer representing Rashmi in court as she fights the outdated gender tests female athletes are subjected to.

The film is directed by Akarsh Khurana and co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Neha Anand, and Pranjal Khandhdiya. Rashmi Rocket will premiere on ZEE5 on October 15.
