Ranking website Alexa.com is being shut down by Amazon
Amazon has announced that it is planning to shut down the leading global website ranking platform ‘Alexa.com’, which ran for almost 25 years.
Alexa.com is an Amazon subsidiary that is well-known for its global ranking system, which combines web traffic statistics from its partners to compile a list of the most popular internet businesses.
The ranking website also offered a paid subscription which allowed users to access a full suite of SEO and competitor analysis tools.
Amazon says that it will be discontinuing the Alexa.com platform in May 2022 and no new monthly stats will be released going forward.
Amazon released a statement, “Twenty-five years ago, we founded Alexa Internet. After two decades of helping you find, reach, and convert your digital audience, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Alexa.com on May 1, 2022. Thank you for making us your go-to resource for content research, competitive analysis, keyword research, and so much more.”
Customers with existing subscriptions will still be able to access the premium tools, however, Amazon has stopped offering new subscriptions.
The ongoing subscriptions will be active till May of 2022, after which they will be revoked.
