Quarantine monitoring B’luru RWAs must avoid stigma: BBMP
Bengaluru, June 23 (IANS) Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) tasked to monitor the adherence of home quarantine have been advised to ensure that no social stigma is attached to the isolated people, an official said on Tuesday.
“Ensure there is no social stigma attached to the persons under home quarantine and appreciate that effective home quarantine is key to prevent the spread of the pandemic,” said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner B. H. Anil Kumar.
He has also advised the RWAs not to violate any legal rights of the people in home quarantine or commit anything unlawful and asked them to contact the civic body helpline for any clarification.
Appreciating the RWAs, Kumar told them to continue to be vigilant and report the BBMP of any visitors who have returned after travelling outside the state.
“Lookout for any visitors or members of the house who returned after travelling outside the state and report to the BBMP helpline or police control room,” he said.
A special Whatsapp and Telegram number has also been created for the RWAs to inform the civic body.
The residents of apartments, gated communities and other such facilities have also been asked to paste a poster outside any home where people on home quarantine are present.
Currently, Bengaluru Urban is grappling with the highest number of active Covid cases, 919, in the southern state.
