Provide meals on time to TN people quarantined in Delhi: TN CM

Chennai, April 24 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Friday told his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal that 559 persons in quarantine centres are not provided timely meals.

In a letter to Kejriwal, text of which was released to the media here, Palaniswami said the Tamil Nadu government has been receiving a number of grievances with regard to conditions of 559 persons hailing from the state.

Palaniswami said 559 persons had attended the conference organised by Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi and they have been admitted/quarantined in various centres.

“The state government has been receiving a number of grievances with regard to conditions of their stay. The individuals have been complaining that some of them are diabetic and suffering from other co-morbidities. They are also not provided timely meals in the quarantine facilities.

“One Thiru Muhammed Mustafa Hajiyar who was in quarantine expired on 22.4.2020 morning,” Palaniswami told Kejriwal.

Palaniswami requested Kejriwal to instruct the authorities concerned to extend the best possible care for the quarantined/hospitalised individuals and also provide necessary medical assistance to those who are suffering from co-morbid conditions.

“In the Ramadan month, authorities may be asked to provide food and medicine to them at appropriate time,” Palaniswami said.
