Ponniyin Selvan: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan first looks poster unveiled as Queen Nandini

The makers of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ today unveiled a new poster of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to introduce her character from the film. The actress will be seen in the role of queen Nandini, who is on a mission of vengeance. She looks beautiful in a saree, with long hair and mesmerizing eyes. She will be the role of ‘Queen of Pazhuvoor’ in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.

Sharing the first-look poster of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini the film’s production house Lyca Productions wrote, “Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada (sic).”

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will release in two parts, and the first part will be debuted in cinemas on September 30.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 has a stellar cast including Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, Parthiban, and Prakash Raj.

The film’s plot is set against the backdrop of the 10th century and Ponniyin Selvan tracks the factional power struggles within the Chola empire, with enemies of the state acting as catalysts. The story is set in the tumultuous period before Ponniyin Selvan (son of River Kaveri), later known as Rajaraja Chola became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history ushering in a golden age.

‘Ponniyin Selvan Part One’ is being jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca Productions while Siva Ananth is the film’s Executive Producer. A.R. Rahman will be composing the music and Ravi Varman has been roped in for cinematography.
