Taking to Twitter, PM Modi today said, “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS.” Modi also lauded the doctors and scientists of the country and said they have worked in a quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19.

“Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter.

Further, urging those eligible to take the coronavirus vaccine, PM Narendra Modi said, “I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”

PM Modi was administered Bharat BioTech’s Covaxin by Sister P Niveda from Puducherry. The second nurse was Rosamma Anil from Kerala.

Meanwhile, India today entered the second phase of Covid-19 vaccinations with registrations open for senior citizens (60 years and above) and those aged 45 to 60 years with comorbidities.

For getting the shot, eligible people will have to register to the Co-Win 2.0 portal or through other IT applications.

A person can register as many as four beneficiaries with a single mobile number. However, the beneficiaries would have to produce identity proofs separately.
