NSS promote ‘No Mask, No Entry’ Campaign on International Day for Persons with Disabilities

Mumbai: Ensuring equality for all, ‘International Day for Persons with Disabilities’ is celebrated the world over to mark the oneness and empowerment for those who are differently-abled. While the whole world is celebrating and working towards the theme of ‘A Day For All’, Bansi Lal Meghwal, Rajendra Kurmi, and Vikram Balai from Narayan Seva Sansthan an NGO in Udaipur working towards the upliftment, skilling, empowering, and enabling of the differently-abled stepped forward were differently-abled stitched and distributed 8500 masks and 500 PPE Kit free of cost to spread awareness on the Pandemic on 3rd December 2020 at the Patrika Gate, Near Jawahar Circle in Jaipur.

The 3 differently-abled had a unanimous view and stated that “Narayan Seva Sansthan has given them a great opportunity to create and spread awareness on COVID-19. As they would perform sewing as a regular job, doing something for the society added more delight and happiness to their lives.”

Speaking on this campaign, Mr. Prashant Agarwal, “Persons with disabilities have pre-existing health conditions that make them more susceptible to contracting the virus. In order to create an awareness of how dreadful and deadly this virus can get, three individuals from Narayan Seva Sansthan decided to take a step forwards and create an awareness and even promote the ‘No Mask, No Entry’ Campaign that is solicited by the Government of Rajasthan. We aimed to distribute free of cost 10000 masks and PPE Kits in the surrounding area in Jaipur among the poor and the needy.”

The city saw sheer excitement in the collection of masks that were sewed by the 3 differently challenged Bansi Lal Meghwal, Rajendra Kurmi, and Vikram Balai. Bystanders and visitors collected masks by maintaining social distancing and adhered to all regulations laid down for COVID-19.

Mr. Agarwal said, “The campaign was only thought after to create awareness on pandemic on how deadly the virus has been affecting even those who are differently-abled. We were excited to see an overwhelming response from the citizens of Jaipur City where some of them even brought in their own cloth to stitch masks. We would be more than happy at all times to contribute more and more to society and urge society to create more acceptability for the differently-abled.”

In the past 9 months, Narayan Seva Sansthan has distributed 154120 Food and Ration Kits, 77005 masks and has conducted 483 campaigns for the distribution of artificial limbs.
