NCP MLA Bharat Bhalke dies due to Post-COVID complications

Nationalist Congress Party MLA Bharat Bhalke passed away on Saturday while undergoing treatment for post-COVID complications.

According to sources, the MLA had tested positive on October 30 but was discharged after recovery. He was moved to Pune on November 9 after being diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Bhalke was a three-term MLA from Pandharpur- Mangalvedha constituency in Solapur district.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar visited Bhalke in the hospital to inquire about his health on Friday evening.

After getting the dead news of Bhalke, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has expresses condolences to the bereaved family. He Tweeted, “The untimely demise of Bharat Bhalke is shocking. With his passing, we have lost an efficient and people-oriented leader from Pandharpur.”

A former wrestler, Bhalke had defeated five-time MLA Sudhakar Paricharak in the 2014 Assembly polls. Incidentally, Paricharak died due to post-COVID complications three months ago.

The NCP leader won the 2009 Assembly election as a candidate from the Left front he had defeated former minister Vijaysinh Mohite Patil. He won again in 2014 on a Congress ticket.
