Modi, Nadda condole Raghuvansh’s demise (Ld)
New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda on Sunday condoled the death of former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who passed away at AIIMS in Delhi, with Modi describing the late politician as someone who understood poverty.
“A person associated with land, a person who understood poverty, spent his entire life in the struggle of Bihar,” the PM said at the start of virtual inauguration of three petro projects in Bihar.
He said that Raghuvansh ‘Babu’s’ demise has created a void in the politics of Bihar and the country.
The Prime Minister’s homage came even before the customary protocol of addressing the Bihar Governor or the Chief Minister at the event. “At the beginning of the programme, I have a sad news to share with you. The veteran leader of Bihar, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, is no longer with us. I bow to him,” Modi said.
Nadda said: “The memories of Raghuvansh Babu, a popular and simple-hearted person, will always remain in my mind. He gave lifelong priority to public service. The soil of Bihar lost a true son of public welfare in Raghuvansh Babu. Humble tribute.”
The 74-year-old politician, who recently resigned from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, succumbed to post-COVID illness at All India Institute of Medical Sciences here on Sunday.
