MDH Spices owner Dharampal Gulati passes away

India’s most inspiring entrepreneur Mahashay Dharampal Gulati the owner of MDH Masala passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 98.

Gulati was undergoing treatment at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Delhi for the last three weeks. His condition deteriorated on Wednesday night and he passed away on Thursday morning because of cardiac arrest.

Dharampal Gulati of MDH, fondly called ‘dadaji’ and ‘Mahashayji’, was born in 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan. Dharampal Gulati joined his father’s spice business in Sialkot. He moved to India after Partition and opened a shop in Delhi’s Karol Bagh.

From his shop in Karol Bagh, ‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati built MDH one of India’s leading spices manufacturers. MDH owner Dharampal Gulati received the Padma Bhushan award from President Ram Nath Kovind in 2019.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia mourned the demise of the MDH owner.

Sharing photos of ‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati, Manish Sisodia wrote on Twitter, “India’s most inspiring entrepreneur, MDH owner Dharm Pal Mahashay passed away this morning. I have never met such an inspiring and lively soul. May his soul rest in peace.”

Sharing Manish Sisodia’s post, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said Dharmpal Ji was very inspiring personality. He dedicated his life for the society. God bless his soul.
