Mamata asks for donations to combat COVID 19

Kolkata, March 25 (IANS) Complaining that the state is yet to receive any fund from the Central government to combat the coronavirus outbreak, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged people, including those living in foreign countries, to come forward and make donations to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund.

“The Centre hasn’t even given us a single pair of gloves. We need huge funds to contain the disease. So I request everyone to come up with generous donations to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” Banerjee told the media here.

She said those willing to donate can deposit directly to the concerned bank account or contact state Health Secretary Sanjay Bansal on 9051022000 or contact the email account wbsacs@gmail.com.

“I request people from the state now staying abroad to also donate,” she said.

So far one person has died of coronavirus in the state, while eight others detected with the virus are under treatment.
