Karan Johar urges Delhi govt to reopen cinema halls, amid Covid-19 cases
Filmmaker Karan Johar, on Thursday, asked the Delhi government to allow cinemas to reopen, despite the surge in COVID-19 cases in the state. He took to Twitter to request the Delhi government to allow cinema halls to operate.
His tweet read, “We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings. @LtGovDelhi @ArvindKejriwal @OfficeOfDyCM #cinemasaresafe (sic).”

This post came shortly after the members of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) held a meeting with Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM of Delhi, seeking him to reopen cinema halls in Delhi.

According to the report, the cinema halls in Delhi are closed after the restrictions under yellow alert as per the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) were imposed there due to the rise in Covid-19 and Omicron cases. Schools, colleges, cinemas, and gyms have also been closed with immediate effect. There are various restrictions put in place as well for the functioning of shops and public transport.
