Thalaivii will see Arvind Swami essay the role of AIADMK founder MGR, while Kangana will play Jayalalithaa. Earlier the film was scheduled to release in theatres on April 23, however, it was postponed due to the second wave of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Kangana was seen clad in an orange and red saree with her hair piled up in a bun and gajra.

Aside from Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami, the film also stars Nassar, Bhagyashree, Samuthirakani, Madhu Bala, Thambi Ramaiah, Poorna, and Vidya Pradeep in pivotal roles.

According to a media report, the movie ‘Thalaivii’ is expected to hit theatres on September 10. Its makers have decided to release the biopic on the OTT platform two weeks after its theatrical release. The decision has irritated multiplex owners and they have been demanding a wider time gap between the theatrical release and the release of the movie on OTT platforms.
