Justice has prevailed after convicts hanged: Congress
New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) The Congress has said justice has prevailed following the hanging of four convicts in the Nirbhaya case early Friday.
The party said the victims of other such heinous crimes should also get justice. “No perpetrator should be allowed to walk free,” said Abhishek Singhvi, senior party leader.
“Finally, the convicts in the #Nirbhaya case have been punished in accordance with law. The hanging at #TiharJail is a symbol of justice. As a part of the Indian legal system & as an Indian, I would like to apologise to the victim’s family for the delay,” said Singhvi.
The Congress, however, raised other cases where justice has been delayed.
Nirbhaya, a 23-year-old medical student, was gangraped in a moving bus in Delhi by six men in December 2012, which led to her death later. Four out of six convicts were hanged in Tihar jail on Friday while one committed suicide during the trial and one was set free for being a juvenile.
