Israel’s active COVID-19 cases drop below 4,000
Jerusalem, May 15 (IANS) The Israeli Health Ministry said that the active COVID-19 cases in the country dropped by 259 to 3,793.
This is the first time that the number of active cases in Israel has dropped below 4,000 since March 28. The highest number of active cases was 9,808 recorded on April 15, Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.
The ministry also reported 31 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 16,579, while the number of recoveries increased by 289 to 12,521.
The death toll rose to 265 after one more patient died from the coronavirus infection on Thursday, while the number of patients in serious condition dropped from 61 to 60.
Earlier on Thursday, Israel’s Interior Ministry announced that the beaches would be reopened to the public on May 20.
