Instagram introduces 7 new messaging features for its users

Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram on Thursday has introduced several new features to improve the messaging experience of users.

The messaging features include the ability to share music previews, send silent messages, the ability to see who’s online to chat to, and more. Informing about the same Instagram said in a blog post, “Today, we’re introducing seven new messaging features to Instagram. As we announced at the end of last year, we’re making more investments in messaging to help you connect with your closest friends in more fun and seamless ways.” The application further informed that the announcement is part of its ongoing work to improve how you connect and share with your closest friends.

Ever since the merging of Messenger and Instagram, Instagram’s chat is getting more features. Here are all the new features coming to Instagram.

1. Reply while you browse: With this feature, you will be able to reply to a message without going to your inbox and moving out of the feed. Before this, to see or reply to a message, you had to go into the inbox and leave your feed or post you were viewing.

2. Quickly share media with friends: You can reshare interesting content without interrupting their Instagram experience. By tapping and holding the share button, you can effortlessly reshare posts to your closest friends.

3. See who’s online: At the top of your inbox, you can see who’s free to chat with at that moment. The user interface and design of the inbox will be quite similar to Facebook Messenger.

4. Play, pause, and re-play: Instagram users will now be able to share a 30-second preview of a song from Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify with their friends. The receiver will be able to hear the preview directly from the chat window.

5. Send messages quietly: The features will allow users to send messages without notifying friends late at night or when they’re busy by adding “@silent” in your message. With this feature, you can reach out without worrying about sending unwanted notifications.

6. Keep it on the lo-fi: Feeling chill? Try the new lo-fi chat theme to make your conversations feel more personal.

7. Create a poll with your squad: The company is bringing one of Messenger’s most popular group chat features to Instagram so you can create a poll directly in your group chat.

However, it needs to be noted that these new features are available in select countries only, but they are expected to reach a global audience later.
