Functioning of HC, subordinate courts suspended till May 17

New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) With the country set to enter the third phase of the lockdown, imposed to contain Covid-19 infection, the Delhi High Court has decided to extend suspension of its functioning along with that of subordinate courts till May 17.

The decision was taken at the high court’s administrative and general supervision committee meeting on Saturday via video link, chaired by Chief Justice D.N. Patel.

The matters listed for hearing in the high court and the subordinate courts during May 4-17 have been adjourned to June.

While the hearing of urgent issues will continue, the mentioning link will now be available from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on all working days to expedite listing and hearing.

“The video-conferencing facility has been set up within the court complex of the Delhi High Court for those advocates who don’t have the requisite infrastructure at their respective residences or offices. The district courts have also been directed to create such facility,” the Delhi High Court administration said.

All the courts in Delhi, including the high court, have dealt with 11,427 urgent matters after the announcement of lockdown.
