Financial Advertisers Targeting The UK Would Require New Verification To Run Google Ads
Recently Google informed their advertisers that they are going to update their financial products and services policy in August 2021.
Advertisers, who want to run Google ads to the UK users, would require to going through a further verification process.
In accordance with the policy compliance, advertisers would require to demonstrate that they are authorized by the UK Financial Conduct Authority or have any exemptions as mentioned in the UK Financial Services verification page.
However, Google mentioned that the ads categorized that won’t be considered as financial ads are
- Products in the scope of Google’s Debt services policy.
- Products in the scope of Google’s Complex speculative financial products policy: contracts for difference, rolling spot forex, financial spread betting. Ads for this category will be able to target UK users seeking financial services as long as they meet the requirements of Google’s Complex speculative financial products policy and complete verification if requested by Google.
- Gambling.
- Products in the scope of Google’s Cryptocurrencies, Credit repair, and Binary options policies.
The advertisers would require to complete the two-step verification process within 7 days of Google updates the new policies. Advertisers need to complete the UK Financial Services verification before September 6, 2021, or have to take down the ads.
