Fans still can’t get enough of Steyn, says social media poll

Cape Town, April 20 (IANS) Dale Steyn fans still can’t get enough of him, the ace South Africa pacer found out in a social media poll he conducted.

Steyn, regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers of all time, put up a poll asking fans “What would you wana see more of from me?” The options he posted were cricket, fishing, surfing and being with dogs.

A overwhelming percentage voted for cricket, forcing the 36-year old to tweet back: “Well there you have it. You still have 3 hours if you wana change you’re mind…”

Steyn recently received a recall to South Africa’s Twenty20 squad for the three-match series against England, in a year when the World Cup in Australia is slated to be held later this year.

The experienced Steyn has not played for Proteas since March 2019 but has fully recovered from a shoulder injury and recently featured for the Melbourne Stars in Australia’s domestic Big Bash League.

In 93 Tests, 125 ODIs and 47 T20Is, Steyn has taken 439, 196 and 64 wickets respectively.

Steyn recently found himself in a highly exclusive class of fast bowlers. West Indies great Michael Holding picked him alongwith with Holding’s former teammates Andy Roberts and Malcolm Marshall and Australia’s Dennis Lillee as the four greatest fast bowlers across generations.
