Cyclone Burevi: IMD issues red alert in 4 districts of Kerala
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for four districts of Kerala due to the Cyclonic storm Burevi.
The IMD has also issued an Orange Alert for the Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts of Kerala. Earlier, the IMD had issued a yellow alert for these districts.
According to IMD, Cyclone Burevi is laying close to Pamban with a close to Pamban with an associated wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph. It likely to move and across the Pamban area during the next 3 hours. The Cyclone Burevi will cross south Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban & Kanniyakumari during the 3rd night and 4th early hours.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah on Thursday said the Modi government is committed to providing all possible help to the people of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the wake of Cyclone Burevi’s impending landfall along the southern coast.
“Have spoken to Tamil Nadu CM Shri @EPSTamilNadu and Kerala CM Shri @vijayanpinarayi in the wake of Cyclone Burevi. Modi government is committed for all possible support to help people of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Several teams of NDRF are already deployed in both the states” Shah tweeted.

Authorities in Kerala have opened over 2,000 relief camps and banned fishing along the coast as they geared up to deal with the storm.
