COVID-19: 6 deaths in Gurugram on Thursday
Gurugram, June 11 (IANS) The COVID-19 outbreak in Gurugram continued to worsen on Thursday as 6 more people died including an inspector of Gurugram Police, an official said.
It was the highest number of deaths in a single day in the city. Earlier on June 8, five patients had succumbed to coronavirus.
Inspector Pradeep Dagar (58) was posted in summons section of Gurugram Police. He had heart disease and was admitted 15 days ago in a private hospital. He underwent Covid test and was found positive couple of days ago.
Mohamad Akil, police commissioner of Gurugram said: “Due to his illness, he was directed to work from home since lockdown. He would retire on July 31. We are saddened with his demise.”
“We have directed police personnel to stay alert on ground during duty hours,” he said.
Apart from the death of Dagar, 20 policemen of different ranks also tested positive in Gurugram.
The other five patients died in different hospitals of Gurugram on Thursday.
Health officials said that 191 fresh cases appeared on Thursday. The figures of Covid positive patients in Gurugram reached 2,737 and 1,858 are still admitted in different hospitals. 10 patients are in critical condition and are on ventilator support.
The total number of cases in Haryana is 5,968 including 389 cases in different districts on Thursday. Overall, 12 deaths were reported in the state. The figure of total deaths in Haryana is 64 now and maximum 22 patients have lost their lives in Faridabad.
