Bihar resumes public transport system today following COVID-19 guidelines

The Bihar government on Tuesday (August 25) resumed the general public transport system together with bus service following the COVID-19 guidelines.

The bus and other public transport services have been closed in Bihar for the last 5 months due to corona infection. The notification was issued on Monday evening after a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Crisis Management Group which was chaired by Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar and attended by Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and senior officials of other departments.

The administration stated that public transport drivers would have to follow the COVID-19 protocol as service resumes.

Every passenger, driver, conductor, and other staff of the bus will wear masks and follow the social distancing norms if anyone failing these conditions the necessary action will be taken against the bus operator/owner besides canceling the permit of the bus, Agarwal said.

In the meantime, the coronavirus cases in Bihar stands at 1,22,684 which includes 21,392 active cases and 1,01,292 recovered cases.
