Apple and Google partner on COVID-19 contact tracing technology

The two tech giants Apple and Google, are going to working together to develop a framework for the use of Bluetooth on Android and iOS devices for COVID-19.

Apple and Google announced yesterday that they are working together to enable the use of Bluetooth in order for governments and health agencies to carry out contact tracing of people affected by a coronavirus in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

According to the report, Apple and Google will be launching a comprehensive solution that includes application programming interfaces (APIs) and operating system level technology to assist in enabling contact tracing.

These apps will be identifying the individuals infected by the coronavirus and the individuals they were exposed to, contact track would serve as an important part of reducing the spread of COVID-19, as well as seeing if they could be potentially infected.

The official apps will be available for users to download via their respective app stores from the month of May.
