New Delhi, April 23 (IANS) A day after a part of South Delhi was sealed with two health workers testing Covid-19 positive, a section of Mehrauli, also in the south district, was sealed on Thursday after another health worker was found with coronavirus.
SDM (Mehrauli) Sonalika Jiwani ordered sealing of the area around A-3, Lake View Apartments, Mehrauli, after the health worker and her father-in-law tested coronavirus positive.
“Both were continuing their regular work, going out for essentials and meeting people. Moreover, they are a family of nine. Of which, two have tested Covid-19 positive and the rest are also either symptomatic or children below 10 years,” the SDM said.
Around 250 people are living in the said apartment building. “The location is densely populated and there is a high potential for local transmission,” the order said.
This will be the 13th containment zone in the south district.
On Wednesday, SDM (Saket) Ankit Mishra declared two areas in Lado Sarai as red zones. In one of the locations, two health workers, living in two different houses, have tested positive. “Both of them were asymptomatic and had been doing their regular work and meeting people,” Mishra said in the order.
So far, over 90 containment zones have been declared in the city.
The containment zones are announced by the district administration after three or more Covid-19 cases are found in an area.
There has been a constant increase in the containment zones in the city. On April 8, there were only 20 containment zones.
After the administration seals an area naming it a ‘containment zone', the Delhi government launches the Operation SHIELD, which is Sealing, Home Quarantine, Isolation and Tracking, Essential Supply, Local Sanitisation and Door-To-Door Checking.
