Amit Shah unveiled a Statue of late BJP Leader Arun Jaitley at Feroz Shah Kotla

Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday unveiled a statue of the late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. According to the media report. actually, Amit Shah has unveiled the statue to pay homage to Arun Jaitley and his 68th birth anniversary.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Sourav Ganguly also attended the ceremony at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.

“Unveiled a statue of Shri Arun Jaitley ji at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. His pioneering contribution in promoting cricket will never be forgotten. We will always miss him as an incredible person dedicated towards nation’s progress. My tributes to Arun ji on his jayanti.’ Mr. Shah Tweeted.

Arun Jaitley’s son and the current president of the DDCA, Rohan Jaitley was also seen at the ceremony where the celebrated politician was honored. A six-foot-tall statue of Jaitley was erected inside the premises of the Feroz Shah Kotla. The statue costs close to Rs 15 lakh and weighs around 800kg.

Jaitley was the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 14 years from 1999 to 2013. He passed away on August 24, 2019.

The Delhi cricket stadium was named after the former finance minister on September 12. Notably, the decision to erect the statue was taken in the first apex council meeting of DDCA in October, after Jaitley’s son Rohan was elected unopposed as the president of the state cricket body.
