Akshay Kumar recreates Rajesh Khanna’s iconic Bawarchi role in a new ad

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar recreated his late father-in-law, Rajesh Khanna’s iconic role from the film, Bawarchi, in a new advertisement. He is delighted to play his idol on screen. The actor also wrote an emotional note remembering his late father-in-law. Bawarchi was released in 1972 and starred Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles.
Taking to Twitter, Akshay said, “Very rarely do we get a chance in life to play our hero on screen! Is #ad ko karte huye mujhe wohi khushi mili. Fondly remembering my late father-in-law whose iconic character in Bawarchi inspired me to do this (sic).”

Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Bawarchi starred Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles with Asrani, A.K. Hangal, Usha Kiran, and Durga Khote in supporting roles. Bawarchi was a remake of the Bengali film Galpo Holeo Satti (1966) by Tapan Sinha which starred Rabi Ghosh.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Atrangi Re alongside Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush.
