India Gandhi birth anniversary: Congress, PM Modi pays tribute to Iron lady of India
The Congress and PM Modi on Thursday paid rich tributes to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 103rd birth anniversary.
Indira Gandhi was born on 19 November 1917, and served as prime MInister from 1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
On her birth anniversary, PM Modi Twitted, “Tributes to our former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary.”

In a tweet in Hindi, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to Indira Gandhi, calling her an efficient prime minister.
He wrote, “The whole country still gives the example of her impressive leadership, but I always remember her as my beloved grandmother. Her teachings inspire me constantly.”

As well as, remembering on her birthday the party also tweeted that, ” “A trailblazer, a visionary, a true leader and a great daughter of our motherland, Smt. Indira was assassinated by her own bodyguards at her residence in Delhi on October 31, 1984, in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star, when the Indian army stormed the Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out armed Sikh militants.
