500 who visited Delhi Markaz quarantined in Haryana

New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) About 500 people who took part in Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area have been put into quarantine in Haryana, after an input was given by the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, “We got input from IB and the police that some coronavirus positive cases have come to Haryana after taking part in Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area. Our government took immediate action and sent about 500 people to 14 days quarantine.”

“They will not be allowed to visit any hotel, mosque or even their own homes during the quarantine period. This step has been taken to reduce the spread of the virus in the state,” Khattar added.

He said that about 1300 people have been kept under observation and 323 persons have been admitted to various hospitals.

In Haryana, the samples of 694 people have been taken for testing. Most of them are believed to have come into contact with coronavirus positive persons. According to the health ministry of Haryana, there are 16 active coronavirus positive cases in the state as 13 patients have been discharged.

“COVID-19 spread in the US, Italy and Spain because they did not take preventive action. My government is taking all steps to halt the contagion,” Khattar added.

The chief minister appealed to the people to maintain social distancing to avoid infection.
