14 more deaths, 397 new corona cases in Karnataka

Bengaluru, June 24 (IANS) Fourteen more patients succumbed to Covid-19 in Karnataka even as 397 new cases took the state’s total tally to 10,118, an official said on Wednesday.

The new cases were reported from 5 pm on Tuesday to 5 pm on Wednesday.

Among the 14 dead, five were from Bengaluru Urban, four from Ballari, two each from Kalaburagi and Ramanagara and one from Tumkur.

As many as 183 or 46 per cent of the new cases on Wednesday are contacts of earlier corona patients while 75 or 19 per cent had domestic travel history, mostly to Maharashtra.

Currently, Bengaluru Urban is leading the state’s Covid-19 burden with 1,124 active cases, followed by Kalaburagi (412), Ballari (376), Yadgir (339), Dakshina Kannada (202) and Bidar (136).

Cases spiked in Bengaluru Urban, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Ramanagara, Udupi, Yadgir, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad, Koppal, Raichur, Uttara Kannada, Davangere, Chikkaballapura, Mysuru, Bengaluru Rural, Gadag, Kolar and Bidar.

Among the new cases, Bengaluru Urban contributed 173, followed by Ballari (34), Kalaburagi and Ramanagara (22 each), Udupi (14), Yadgir (13), Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad (12 each), Koppal (11), Raichur and Uttara Kannada (9 each).

Others cases were from Davangere and Chikkaballapura (8 each), Mysuru and Bengaluru Rural (7 each), Gagad and Kolar (6 each), Bidar (5), Vijayapura (4), Shivamogga (3), Mandya, Chitradurga, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu (2 each) and Belagavi, Hassan, Tumkur and Chikkamagaluru (1 each).

A record 102 patients are suffering from Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and nine from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

On a positive note, 149 more persons got discharged, raising the total to 6,151.

In all, 5.39 lakh samples have been tested so far, of which 5.15 lakh tested negative.

Of the total 164 deaths, Bengaluru Urban has accounted for 78 deaths, followed by Bidar (15), Kalaburagi (13), Vijayapura, Davangere and Dakshina Kannada (7 each), among others.
