Facebook launches two new Portal video chat devices Portal Go and Portal Plus

To expand its portfolio of video calling devices, Facebook has unveiled the two new Portal video chat devices called, Portal Go and Portal Plus.

The Portal devices have been launched in 10-inch and 14-inch display sizes. Announcing its Portal devices, Facebook said in its blog, “Today, we’re welcoming two new additions to the Portal family of video calling devices: the 10-inch portable Portal Go, our next-gen Portal+ with a 14-inch HD tilting display. Portal Go and Portal+ will begin shipping on October 19; pre-orders are open now at portal.facebook.com. We’re also introducing new features for small businesses with Portal for Business.”

Portal Go and Portal Plus price and availability:

Portal Go has been launched in the US for $199 (Approx Rs 14,700) and the Portal Plus has been launched at $349 (Approx Rs 25,000). Portal Go and Portal Plus will begin shipping on October 19; pre-orders are open now at portal.facebook.com. Although, Facebook has not revealed whether it plans to launch the devices in other markets including India.

Portal Go and Portal Plus specifications and features:

Portal Plus features a 14-inch display whereas Portal Go features a 10-inch display. Facebook has said that the Portal Go brings smart camera video calling to a new, portable version. The Portal devices come with long-lasting batteries to make portability easier. Portal Go features a 12MP camera with an ultra-wide field of view for immersive video calls. The device can also be used as a portable speaker with room-filling sound.

Facebook said, “Its stereo speakers deliver high-fidelity sound for crystal-clear audio. With the rise of remote and hybrid work models, Portal makes a perfect dedicated screen for work calls, freeing up your computer to take notes, view a presentation, or multitask. And it’s also great for connecting with family and friends when the work day is over.”
