US Department Of Defence Shares Picture Of Last American Soldier Leaving Afghanistan

The official Twitter handle of the US Defense Department shares the glimpse of Major General Chris Donahue, who was the last soldier to leave Afghanistan after twenty years.

Finally, Mission Kabul is now officially finished one day before the expected. From the Kabul International Airport, the last US soldier of the 82nd Air Borne Division board on the C-17 Glob Master plan. On the tweet, it is being featured on night vision. On a news conference, Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie announced “the completion of our withdrawal from Afghanistan and the end of the military mission to evacuate American citizens, third-country nationals and vulnerable Afghans.”

He added, “the best way to protect the lives of our troops, and secure the prospects of civilian departures for those who want to leave Afghanistan in the weeks and months ahead.”

According to the Pentagon, more than 120,000 people had been evacuated since August 14.
