Tandav controversy: FIR filed in Lucknow against makers of web series, Amazon Prime
A case has been lodged against Amazon Prime officials and the makers of the web-series ‘Tandav’ in UP’s capital city Lucknow.
A group of Indian politicians claims that A scene in the latest series has attacked Hindu sentiments.
According to ANI, an FIR has been filed at Lucknow’s Hazratganj Kotwali against Amazon Prime’s India head of original content Aparna Purohit, director of the web series ‘Tandav’ Ali Abbas Zafar, its producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, and writer Gaurav Solanki.
Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders alleged that the Saif Ali Khan-starrer web series `Tandav` hurts Hindu religious sentiments.
Expressing similar concerns, BJP leader Manoj Kotak has written a letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar. In the letter, Manoj Kotak wrote, “It seems that the makers of Tandav have mocked Hindu gods and disrespected Hindu religious sentiments. I urge the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban Tandav for the meantime.”
Sharing the picture of his letter to Javadekar on Twitter, Kotak said as there is no law or autonomous body governing digital content, and films on such platforms are full of sex, violence, drugs, abuse, hate, and vulgarity. It seems that makers of Tandav have deliberately mocked Hindu gods and disrespected Hindu religious sentiments, he said in the letter dated January 16.
