PNB WhatsApp Banking: Check how to activate, services offered, and other details

State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) recently launched WhatsApp banking services for both customers and non-customers. The decision was taken in order to make banking services more accessible.

How to Activate WhatsApp Banking?

In order to activate the banking facility on WhatsApp, customers need to save the official PNB’s WhatsApp number 919264092640, and initiate a conversation (on WhatsApp) by sending a hi/hello to this number, the bank said in a statement.

Non-financial services such as balance inquiry, last five transactions, stop cheque, and request cheque book to its account holders can be availed through the WhatsApp banking service, it said.

The customers must ensure to check the ‘green tick’ along with PNB’s profile name on WhatsApp to ensure that this is a genuine WhatsApp banking account before initiating the conversation, the statement said.

What is the service offered?

According to the Bank, apart from above these services, both account, and non-account holders can avail of informative services like NRI services, locate branch/atm, online account opening, enquire about bank deposit/loan products, digital products, and opt-in, and opt-out options.

Notably, the bank is also providing an extra 80 basis points (bps) on fixed deposits (FDs) to senior citizens aged above 80. It can be availed on all the tenures that range from 7 days to 10 years.

The recently WhatsApp banking service can be available 24×7, including holidays, on both android and iOS-based mobile phones.
