Indian film director, Madhur Bhandarkar is all set to make his first Bengali film Avijatrik. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 26. Directed by Subhrajit Mitra, the film stars Arjun Chakrabarty, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Arpita Chatterjee, Sreelekha Mitra, Diripriya Roy, Ayushman Mukherjee, and Sohag Sen, among others.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to announce the release date of the film. He wrote, “MADHUR BHANDARKAR’S FIRST BENGALI FILM GETS A RELEASE DATE… #Bengali film #Avijatrik – which marks #MadhurBhandarkar’s foray into #Bengali cinema – to release in *cinemas* on 26 Nov 2021… Directed by #SubhrajitMitra… Produced by Gaurang Films and #MadhurBhandarkar (sic).”

Avijatrik translated as The Wanderlust of Apu in English, is based on the novel Aparajito by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. It is the sequel to the classic Apu Trilogy, directed by Satyajit Ray. The plot takes off from where Ray’s Apu Trilogy had ended in 1959 with Apur Sansar. The film focuses on Apu’s overwhelming desire to explore the world outside, instead of his inner journey and self-growth.
