Google rolls out Truecaller like feature for android users

Internet search giant Google has rolled out a new feature for Android users in five countries including India.

According to Google, this feature will help them avoid calls that could potentially be a scam.

The company has put a name for this feature in its phone app called “Verified Calls”, that aims to not only make Android users trust calls from unknown callers, but also increase the call answer rates by verifying the businesses who want to call users.

Due to the Verified Calls feature, Android users will be able to see the caller’s name, logo, the reason for calling, and a verification symbol indicating the business has been authenticated by Google.

This new feature from Google for Android users is essentially the core functioning of Truecaller as that app also helps in identifying unknown callers.

In a blog post, the company has said that the early results of the pilot program of Verified Calls have shown that there have been improvements in the chances of a consumer asking a call.

As mentioned above, the Verified Calls will be part of Google’s Phone app and Android users will require this app to make use of this feature. The app will be available for download starting later this week on even more Android devices, said Google.

The feature is first coming to the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and India.
