Cyclone Nivar likely to hit south Andhra Pradesh coast on November 25
Cyclone NIver is likely to make landfall between Mamallapuram (Tamil Nadu) and Karaikal 9 (Puducherry) on November 25.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the speed of winds could reach 100 kmph during landfall. The department has advised agriculture and horticulture farmers to harvest their crops without delay.
IMD director (for Andhra Pradesh) S. Stella said Cyclone Nivar may cause heavy to extremely heavy rains at isolated places in Rayalaseema and south coastal AP districts on Wednesday (November 25) and Thursday (November 26). Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts would get light to moderate rains on these two days.
On the current progress of the cyclone, the India Meteorological Department today has shared the news on its official Twitter handle.

IMD IMD director, S. Stella, also said that the present system will very likely turn into a depression by Monday and further intensify into a cyclone on Tuesday. It will move northwestwards before crossing land between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday afternoon.
