YouTube starts rolling out its TikTok rival Shorts on TV globally, read the details

Google-owned social media platform, YouTube on Monday announced that it will begin rolling out its TikTok rival Shorts on TV for its global users.

Now, with the update, you will be able to watch videos of YouTube Shorts on your Smart TV in a vertical style.

You will also get to see videos of one minute or less on the TV app of YouTube Shorts. In the mobile app, there is only a chance to watch 60 seconds of videos. YouTube has optimized YouTube Shorts for TV.

In the design rolling out, the users will see a modified version of a “maximal” prototype.

“We simplified the design of the right side rail, but will be looking to bring in additional functionality in future releases. We believe that this experience balances the fun, quirkiness of Shorts in a way that feels natural for TV,” the company said in a blog.

The update to YouTube Shorts for Smart TVs in 2019 or later will be rolling out in the coming weeks. You will be able to start-stop and play-pause videos of YouTube Shorts with your TV’s remote.

For your information, let us tell you that the number of daily views of YouTube Shorts has crossed the 30 billion mark.
