WhatsApp introduced the search for businesses and shop on its platform

The Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp has announced that it is rolling out yet another new feature for Business profile users. This feature will let users search for businesses on the platform as well as chat with them, along with an option to even shop for the products.

In a blog post, WhatsApp said that this new feature will let users browse businesses by categories – such as travel or banking – or search by the business name. “This will save people from having to find phone numbers off websites or type a number into their contacts,” the company added.

In addition, users will also be able to shop directly using WhatsApp instead of visiting a website. The instant messaging platform has collaborated with various payment partners to let users shop for products directly from the app itself. The feature work similarly to the JioMart Shopping experience introduced in India a few months back, as per the report.

Additionally, people will also be able to make a secure payment right from a chat using their credit or debit card details. “This seamless checkout experience will be a game-changer for people and businesses looking to buy and sell on WhatsApp without having to go to a website, open another app or pay in person,” it said in its blog post.

As far as availability is concerned, WhatsApp said that this feature will be available in Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico, and the UK.
