New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) on Monday appointed Infosys Chief Operating Officer (COO) U.B. Pravin Rao the Chairman for 2020-21.
Rao, Nasscom Vice-Chairman, will succeed Keshav Murugesh, Group CEO, WNS Global Services. Murugesh served as the Chairman in 2019-20.
The Nasscom also announced appointment of Rekha M. Menon, Chairman and Senior Managing Director of Accenture, India, as the Vice-Chairperson for 2020-21.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said he looked forward to serving the industry. “These are challenging times for the Indian IT industry as we deal with an unprecedented situation,” Rao said.
Stating that the Indian IT industry has time and again proven its resilience, he said, “This time too, we will emerge stronger and wiser.”
Rao said the industry needed a focused approach towards building resilience, upskilling workforce and contributing to India’s growth.
Rekha M. Menon said, “I look forward to working with Nasscom and its leadership to ensure that our industry remains innovative and agile, as it unlocks opportunities, navigates challenges and catalyses sustainable, positive impact in our communities.”
The newly appointed officials, along with President Debjani Ghosh, would lead the industry body to carry out its wide array of objectives to achieve the 2025 vision for the industry, Nasscom said in a statement.
